Further down are the discus and angelfish, both very elegant and fascinating creatures. On your right is many varieties of mollies, platies and swordtails in a dazzling display of colour forms. Further down are varieties of danios, which are ideal starting fish to mature the aquarium. Barbs, gouramies, and loaches including the very popular clown loach from Indonesia follow on. Many varieties of plecostomus complete the run.

Tropical fish and plants at The Goldfish Bowl

As you turn the corner, you come to the tetra section, including the most popular of all tropical fish, the colourful Neon Tetra, and other species of tetra including the beautiful Head and Light Tail tetras. Also some unusual varieties from South America are here. You’ll also find many varieties of the ever-busy corydoras catfish, which are bottom feeders. Our piranhas are also housed in this section.

Cichlids at The Goldfish Bowl

Turning round the corner, you are welcomed by a large selection of Apistogramma (Dwarf Cichlids). Unusual tetras and varieties of corydoras catfish and plecostomus from South America can be seen here. You will also find the popular Siamese fighting fish from Thailand including some stunning species.

Plants at The Goldfish Bowl

Our contemporary plant tank display takes aquatic plants for the fishkeeper to a whole new level. The five tanks, each 3.3 metres long, display over sixty different species of plants from three different continents. The tanks benefit from heating cables underneath the layer of DUPONIT-Mix. CO2 is injected into the water at the required levels and is controlled by a mini computer to ensure these optimum levels are maintained.

Invertebrates at The Goldfish Bowl

Next up is a purpose built invertebrate room, which attempts to mimic an underwater wonderland with the inverts delicately positioned to its best advantage. SPS corals and LPS stony corals are displayed in their own system. Soft corals, mushroom on rock, zoanthids, anemones, feather dusters, shrimps, crabs, urchins, starfish and many more are among the inhabitants of this new display. There are also ultra colourful stony corals and ultra zoanthids as well as the more standard kinds to cater for the requirements of different enthusiasts.

Marine fish at The Goldfish Bowl

Our selection of marines greets you next – a stunning variety of some of the world’s most beautiful fish. It includes many brightly-coloured fish from the ocean of the world including tank-bred clown fish, damsels, angels, gobies, blennies and many more coral reef fish.

Marine fish at The Goldfish Bowl

Next up is our latest change: a new revamped marine display centrepiece. In an ‘I’ shape configuration, the two large 7ft tanks are home to several sharks, leopard moray eels, stingrays and are supported by a shoal of Malayan Angels and a variety of corals and anemones.

Coldwater fish at The Goldfish Bowl

Take a right and you will be in the coldwater room which accommodates many varieties of fancy goldfish, like the orandas, bubble eyes, lionheads, telescopic eyes and ryukins. Of course we keep a good variety of the popular common goldfish, shubukins, and koi carp in the pools. Our terrapins also have their home in this section.

Dry Goods at The Goldfish Bowl

We have hundreds of different dry goods in stock. This includes the popular API water treatment range as well as the highly-recommended Eheim equipment. We were also the first aquatic shop in the UK to gain platinum status with Juwel, a leading manufacturer of aquariums and its accessories and we also have achieved platinum status with Seachem UK.

Ornaments at The Goldfish Bowl

We have a vast selection of ornaments, set out in many themes such a oriental, Easter Island and Ancient Greece etc. to make your selection easier. We also stock bogwood, spider wood, artificial plants and over 30 different colours of gravel.

Reservoir at The Goldfish Bowl

This is our filter room, which is responsible for keeping the water quality in our aquarium to the high standard we aspire to operate to. In this picture on the left, you can see a bank of ultraviolet sterilizers that are used to kill most free swimming parasites and bacteria, and also stop algae blooms. On the right hand side are the Baker Hydro filter cartridges that filter the water down to 20 microns. On the back wall are ozioners that helps to control the water quality. Pumps re-circulate the water around the shop and feed the filter towers; we re-circulate around 36,000 gallons of water every hour.
