Porcelain Crab (petrolisthes galathinus)

Tropical seas host huge numbers of crabs, and what comes to the hobby is a minute part of the overall possible species. Being primarily nocturnal and scavengers there is a place for the peaceful and non-destructive species in the aquarium. But take care to avoid cute looking babies capable of growing into marauding monsters!

The Porcelain Crab (petrolisthes galathinus) lives only within the protection of sea anemones in their natural environment, favouring the short tentacled species. They have fine comb-like modified front legs that sweep the passing water currents to capture any small pieces of suspended nutrients, thereby feeding themselves and keeping the surface of the anemone clean of debris.
