Marine white spot

What is marine white spot?

This is virtually the marine form of white spot. The spot like cysts raised by these parasites are smaller than those seen in the freshwater Ich, but they will often latch onto the host fish is large numbers, smothering the entire body and fin surfaces.

How do you treat marine white spot ?

While they are encysted in this way, they are well protected from any chemical treatments so the approach is to treat the water in readiness for the parasites to break out and perish. Copper based cures are also effective but cannot be used with invertebrates or corals present. A reef safe treatment is also available.
